Hotel
Information |
Our hotel is small family run business It has twelve cosy
rooms and you can find here some sense of home comfort
and personal approach which it is difficult to see in
enormous mainstream hotel buildings. All rooms have private
bathroom TV, telephone, air-condition .
Two of the most important arguments for the contemporary
tourist in choosing a place to stay are the safety of
area and the proximity of famous sightseeing places. From
this point of view Plaka is your best choice. It is the
most picturesque, safe and pleasant region of Athens.
Plaka is the ancient city of Athens, situated at the foot
of Acropolis, the symbol of Greek civilization. Music,
restaurants, beautiful shops, lighted crowded streets,
interlaced with quite side-streets in one of which is
our hotel.
We are very close to Athens conference centers
It is also very easy to reach our hotel from the airport
with the metro line or bus (see travel information) whose
final stop is the Syntagma Square, the political centre
with the houses of Parliament and the residences of Greek
President and Prime Minister in the National Garden. This
is only five minutes walk from our hotel and twenty minutes
from the Acropolis(see Area information). |

The Acropolis of Athens
(Sacred Rock)
The Acropolis hill, so called the "Sacred Rock" of Athens,
is the most important site of the city. During Perikles'
Golden Age, ancient Greek civilization was represented
in an ideal way on the hill and some of the architectural
masterpieces of the period were erected on its ground.
The first habitation remains on the Acropolis date from
the Neolithic period. Over the centuries, the rocky hill
was continuously used either as a cult place or as a residential
area or both. The inscriptions on the numerous and precious
offerings to the sanctuary of Athena (marble korai, bronze
and clay statuettes and vases) indicate that the cult
of the city's patron goddess was established as early
as the Archaic period (650-480 B.C.). |

As
soon as you start walking around Plaka's stone-paved, narrow streets,
you will have the feeling that you are travelling back in time. This is
Athens' oldest and, thanks to the restoration efforts which went into
its buildings in recent years, most picturesque neighbourhood. You will
be delighted by the beauty of the neo-classical colours of its houses,
their architecture, their lovingly tended little gardens, the elegance,
and the total atmosphere of the area. In Plaka, even the air is different;
lighter, clearer, scented, like a gift from the gods. More
