"Hotel:
average Location: poor"
The Novotel has very friendly staff at the desk (Lia was
my contact, she was very nice) however Location:
on Michael Voda Street (6 minute walk from the Larissa
Train & Subway Station) is OK in the day; but at
night can be dodgy- so dont recommend walking after
dark.
The
restaurants are 2- up by the pool (garden cafe, and
the one by the lobby). Food is average and perhaps overpriced
(about Euro 15 for an entree)
The
rooms are old, and although I got a special deal of
Euro 83 on the net; the standard rate was Euro 140 and
that is HIGH for this propoerty. [At the time of writing
this the Holiday Inn was offering Euro 99 which is much
better value]
+++
point
The pool on the terrace is amazing; with a view of Piraeus
port on one side and the ruins of the Acropolis looming
large in front. If you are not really one for ruins,
an afternoon by pool will give you free access t the
acropolis :)
The
hotel is not bad, but I won't be selling it to you for
a business trip or a romantic getaway. It may serve
your purpose if you are with a group of 20+ and on a
educational / sports trip.

Plaka
Area |
| |
As
soon as you start walking around Plaka's stone-paved, narrow streets,
you will have the feeling that you are travelling back in time. This is
Athens' oldest and, thanks to the restoration efforts which went into
its buildings in recent years, most picturesque neighbourhood. You will
be delighted by the beauty of the neo-classical colours of its houses,
their architecture, their lovingly tended little gardens, the elegance,
and the total atmosphere of the area. In Plaka, even the air is different;
lighter, clearer, scented, like a gift from the gods. More
