"Great central location"

A friend and I shared a twin room here in October 2006. We thought the hotel was easy to find, it's located near to Syntagma Square where you can easily get buses, trams and trains. All the sights are within easy walking distance. We didn't find the location to be at all noisy as the hotel was located off a side street.

I'd say the hotel offers fairly basic but comfortable accommodation. The shower door was broken, but the shower itself was not so we managed ok! I was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and bathroom - and I'm hard to please. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was a disappointment as I don't like to face the public on a morning til I've had my cup of tea :-)

Breakfast was a self selection of DIY toast, jams, bread, scrambled eggs, hot dog type sausages, ham, cheese, fruit, cereal, fruit juices and tea/coffee. The lady in charge of breakfast was a bit ferocious if you made a bit of a mess - watch out for her!!

All in all, I'd recommend it, after all there are so many things to see in Athens, you'll spend hardly any time in your room anyway, so we found it value for money.

"Good location"

I had read reviews that made me a bit nervous to stay here but we had no problems.
The location was good. We were able to walk to a few places and the trains/buses/trams were an easy 5 minute walk.
We stayed here at the start of a 3 month trip. We had a family room (2 adults, 2 children). The main room had a double bed and desk. It was small but had enough cupboard space for us all. The middle room had 2 singles in it. It was good having privacy.
The breakfast was good. Enough variety to suit everyone in our family.
We didn't spend much time in the hotel as we were only in Athens for 3 days.
We had no problems with the staff, they were friendly enough.

"Not a bad home base in Athens (but could be better!)"

We stayed in this hotel for three nights on our Honeymoon - 2 at the beginning of our trip to Greece, and one on our last night before heading to the airport for home. Overall, we would stay again - it was in a very convenient location, and since we were mostly out seeing the sights, we didn't need anything fancy!

PROs: location, price, friendly staff, decent breakfast
CONs: some rooms are tiny, beds were not comfortable!

Our first stay, we mentioned that it was our honeymoon, and they "upgraded" us to a room with a balcony - which sounded great until we saw that the balcony had no furniture and looked out over an abandoned building with broken windows, etc.

We got a good laugh out of the tiny elevator - we couldn't both fit in with our luggage, and had to ride separately. When the elevator stops at your floor you need to push the door open - my new husband didn't realize this, and after a trip to our floor, ended up back in the lobby with me!

Our room was TINY - barely a foot of space around each side of the bed. The shower was also tiny, but fine for us. The worst part for us was that the bed was rock hard. After a long flight, we slept pretty soundly anyway, but I was ready for a nice bed when we left.

Our second stay, the front desk said they were disappointed that they couldn't upgrade us again - we didn't care as we were there for one short night. Our "standard" room was at least double the size of the "honeymoon" room! No balcony, but two double beds, a large bathroom, and tons of extra space! Next time we'd be sure to ask for one of these rooms instead!

"Good location, poor attitude"

The front desk staff never smiled or acknowledged anyone in the lobby area. Check-in was cold, and we were rushed on our way at check-out. Fortunately, the location is ideal for touring. The halls are not carpeted, which can make for a loud night with people coming and going at all hours.

"Relatively quiet"

+ Relatively quiet, although in the center of the city
- "Greek standard" shower cabin, very small, can cause flooding if not cautious.

Plaka Area

As soon as you start walking around Plaka's stone-paved, narrow streets, you will have the feeling that you are travelling back in time. This is Athens' oldest and, thanks to the restoration efforts which went into its buildings in recent years, most picturesque neighbourhood. You will be delighted by the beauty of the neo-classical colours of its houses, their architecture, their lovingly tended little gardens, the elegance, and the total atmosphere of the area. In Plaka, even the air is different; lighter, clearer, scented, like a gift from the gods. More Plaka
