"Lovely hotel and staff"

My mother and I stayed at The Electra Palace for three nites the first week in May and were very pleased. We booked a room on the 5th floor with beautiful views of the Acropolis from our balcony. The hotel is top class, luxurious and clean. It is in a perfect location to walk to all the sites, shopping and the Plaka. We felt safe walking around day or nite.
The staff was wonderful, Panos the concierge couldn't have been more accomodating to us and we enjoyed talking to him each time we came back to the hotel. He is very professional and informative. Menelaos the bartender was also great. Sample some of his creative drinks at the lobby bar, he is an award winning mixologist having competed in world wide competitions!
We also had time to be pampered in the spa enjoying swedish massages. Be sure to indulge if you have time.
We did not have breakfast while at the hotel, prefering to have coffee delivered to our room. Nothing like waking up to coffee on our balcony viewing the Acropolis!
Overall, we loved our stay and would highly recommened it to anyone ging to Athens.

"Great Hotel"

The hotel is in a great location. You can walk everywhere. Make sure you ask for a room on the 5th, 6th or 7th floor. It will be quieter. Don't forget to go up to the roof for a great view of the city, ect. The room we stayed in was small to American standards. But typical to European. Very clean hotel. The breakfast buffet was alright. We found the food to be lukeroom. But there was plenty to chose from on the buffet. Staff was helpful. It is best to have the hotel schedule a driver to pick you up at the airport. It costs around 40 euros. I would recommend this hotel.

Smoking!! There should be a non smoking area in the restaruant in which non smokers can enjoy their meals. My wife has severe asthma and twice we had to leave our meal unfinished as people were smoking beside us to avoid an asthma attack. This is unfair.

"Fantastic location"

This is a really lovely hotel in a great location. Close to the Acropolis and all the fun of Plaka. Although it is quite a large hotel, it still manages to feel quite intimate. I would not hestitate to go back or, indeed, to recommend the hotel to my friends (and, crucially, my parents!)

"Comfortable plush hotel"

This 5 star hotel is very comfortable and everything you'd expect at this level (except perhaps a smallish swimming pool). Some of the rooms have views of the Parthenon and you get amazing views from the rooftop.

"Attentive staff"

Attentive staff and very friendly and helpful. We had found the bed hard and although they could not change it as the mattresses are all the same, they did their best to help and changed us to a nicer room.

"Christmas vacations in a hotel of my city!"

As we wanted to spend the Christmas holidays in a relaxed but still family way, and we didn't want to travel somewhere far, we decided to stay in the Athens downtown in Electra Palace.
It might sound strange taken that we live in Athens ourselves but it turned out to be a great experience. The hotel was really comfortable and cosy.
As we were the 4 of us, we wanted two rooms that would connect, and the hotel gave us a junior suite that was connected to a standard room with the same charge!! And it was great. We were all very pleased.
Regarding the staff behaviour, as I read all the comments of other trip advisor members, I didn't notice anything unpleasant, as they were kind with us and helpful.
The location of the hotel by my opinion is really great as you are close to many shops, restaurants and of course the beautiful Acropolis.

"A gem - don't know what the fuss is about!"

To get to the hotel from the Airport, take the Airport bus - it runs 24hrs a day, 7 days a week and is only 3.90 Euros (one way). It takes a while to get to the centre, but the journey gives you a glimpse of Athens city life. You get off at the bus's very last stop, Syntagma Square - walk back on your self, down the slight slope and then turn left (at the traffic lights). Walk down 2 blocks and the road that you want comes after 2 blocks on your right.

The hotel itself was great. The rooms were comfy and decent sized - they weren't massive. But then I didn't go to Athens to stay in my hotel room all day long and contemplate it's size! The hotel is situated in the Plaka district, which itself is a national heritage site. You are right at the foot of the Acropolis and all other attractions can be walked to. I'm in my early twenties and am extremely lazy yet still managed to walk to all places of Athens - didn't need to use public transport once!

The hotel staff are friendly - if you are friendly to them. I had no problem with their manners or otherwise. The answered all my touristy questions with great patience and pointed me in the right direction where they didn't know.

The hotel does have a gym and an open air pool - both which I didn't use. As I said before, I wanted to sleep in luxary at night - have a good variety for breakfast in the morning - and be rested to explore the city the day after. In my opinion, the hotel offered just that! Perhaps it wasn't the 5 star standard of say a Hilton - but it had all the amenities necessary for 5 star status.

"Dissapointed!"

Overall the hotel looks nice.it is beautiful decorated with fine quality furnishings, classical in style, everything in working order brand new and shiny and the location of it is just in the middle of everything.it has many facilities such as an indoor pool with very warm pleasant water,a jaccuzi, hamam ,sauna ,a gym all of them complimentary. the food at the hotel is above average in quality and the tastes are very good.breakfast is also above average.BUT THE STAFF IS THE RUDEST I HAVE EVER MET IN A 5 STAR HOTEL!!!check-in was very unprofessional not even a welcoming word.the bell-boy was unpolite and very stiffy.the receptionist gave us a terrible room.after arguing with them they gave us a very beautiful fairly large room.the only negative was that the bathroom sink was outside the bathroom.there was no turn down service something that you expect from a 5 star hotel. room service was very bad by very rude staff again.they had forgotten half of the things we ordered and we had to call them again to bring the rest.but we dis not have so much luck cause the second time also forgot some things again.so by the third time they managed finally to bring everything we ordered!!!wow!
generally this is a very fine and wonderful hotel as far as the decoration .the staff is so terrible one can not imagine! NEVER AGAIN.STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT BETTER TREATMENT.

"Wonderful Location"

What a terrific spot, the hotel was lovely, clean, and in the centre of everything - we could walk anywhere, the PLAKA, acropolis, syntagma square. The staff were delightful and friendly. Free breakfast with the room was ample and delicious. We arrived so early in the morning from our flight, the rooms weren't ready, we were told to come back. When we did, they still weren't ready, so they gave us a suite upgrade N/C because they knew we were exhausted from our travels. We had booked the deluxe room with Acropolis view - well worth it - and got a suite which was beautiful. Roomy and nicely decorated with wrap around balconies as it was on a corner. View of the Acropolis and they had a lovely roof top pool area. We stayed 2 nights and would definetely stay there again. We walked all over Athens from that spot, it was so well located.

"Good hotel, not worth the money"

The hotel was alright, the first night we had to spend in a smoking room with 2 twin beds, though we had confirmed several times a non-smoking room due to allergy reasons. The next day we were moved to a double bed, non-smoking room which was much smaller and not as nicer, but it sufficed. The service was very sullen and not friendly....they did not guide us properly to a street address location in Athens, the manager merely said 'I don;t know this street, but it is somewhere here'. The one positive was excellent buffet breakfast. I would've give this hotel a better rating if the room rates were less, but at the prices they charge, you would expect much much more.

Plaka Area

As soon as you start walking around Plaka's stone-paved, narrow streets, you will have the feeling that you are travelling back in time. This is Athens' oldest and, thanks to the restoration efforts which went into its buildings in recent years, most picturesque neighbourhood. You will be delighted by the beauty of the neo-classical colours of its houses, their architecture, their lovingly tended little gardens, the elegance, and the total atmosphere of the area. In Plaka, even the air is different; lighter, clearer, scented, like a gift from the gods. More Plaka
