"Very nice indeed at a good price"
Had a band staying there who were playing a big club that night in Athens. High quality with lovely bar and ambience and a great location in a nice area. 1 person had a suite which was amazing --other rooms very acceptable if not that big--however this is common in Europe. The rooms at the Grosvenor in London if you are not paying for the "deluxe rooms" are "bijou" same with the Langham. Nicely done but not huge. One persons 5* is anothers 3* and vice versa and whilst one person loves beautiful lobbies and cool interiors another values huge rooms more. I had cause to speak with reception who I found friendly and helpful with a big party and spoke excellent english. In Europe it often depends how you are with them.
We stay in a lot of hotels with bands and know a good one from a lousy one and this one is stylish, an excellent price in a quality location with good amenities in a city where location etc can be variable--just dont expect massive rooms unless you pay for a higher level. |

"Not the best deal"
+ The main areas (lobby, dining room, lounges) are beautiful and absolutely immaculate. The entrance and lobby definitely look high end. The staff speak very good english which was helpful. The location is very convenient - a two block walk to the metro and 10-30 minutes to anything within the historic areas. The sleeping rooms were also very clean - the bathrooms were absolutely spotless. There is a lovely lounge w/ a reading library which was great - had lots of comfy sofas and great historical books. The breakfast is ample and good quality.
- The hotel does not have a concierge or any mechanism for tourists to get local information other than asking the front desk staff. A simple rack of local brochures or information would have been enormously helpful and we would have really utilized a concierge. Our first room was terrible - horrible mattresses, no vents - just open holes in the wall, no decorations of any kind, poor repair, cramped, etc... After trying three other rooms we finally got one w/ better (though nowhere near plush) mattresses, and covered vents. The hotel seemed quite empty so it would have been nice if we hadn't been given what seemed like the worst room in the house, even if we had a discounted rate. I feel pretty certain that if we paid more for the room there were significantly nicer rooms to be had. None of the rooms we saw were up to four star level. Also, one of the main reasons we chose this hotel is for the exercise facilities - which were under construction and unavailable during our stay. So I would recommend this hotel to someone willing to pay significantly more to get an upgraded room, but not to someone who wants the best deal. And I'd strongly suggest contacting the hotel directly if there are specific services you want that are advertised but may not be available. |

"Great location!"
Booked this hotel on the internet, a triple room for 3 lads, 2 separate rooms, 3 separate beds for £35 each per night (not including brekky), which we think was a bargain! Touted as a 5 star hotel, the lobby gives that impression, but the rooms are more like 4 star, but still very nice nevertheless.
The location is spot on - literally right next to the Temple of Zeus, 5 to 10 mins walk to the Acropolis, & 5 mins walk to the nearest Metro station. - we couldn't have asked for any more at the price.

- It would have been nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. |

Plaka
Area |
| |
As
soon as you start walking around Plaka's stone-paved, narrow streets,
you will have the feeling that you are travelling back in time. This is
Athens' oldest and, thanks to the restoration efforts which went into
its buildings in recent years, most picturesque neighbourhood. You will
be delighted by the beauty of the neo-classical colours of its houses,
their architecture, their lovingly tended little gardens, the elegance,
and the total atmosphere of the area. In Plaka, even the air is different;
lighter, clearer, scented, like a gift from the gods. More
